I've seen a few interesting things posted on ebay, but this one particularily caught my eye: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/CANADA-2012-...em417ebb8020I know this set was popular and well-loved (I bought one, it's my favourite set so far), but this seems ridiculous and over the top.

yes I agree, all I needed to do was scroll down to what others shopped for and found one for $600, not saying the grade would be 67 but I'm sure it wouldn't be to far off. some sellers think what they have is a gold mine, and cant except its only worth a few hundred bucks! EDIT: btw i just searched it and found a buy now for $450 bucks

to CCF, freddiev I am not to judge here, but since I do not like all the idea of the grading "fresh" NCLT, specially inserting a raw silver coin into the pocket, I'll just prefer the OGP set. Minimum big and ugly slabs... And in any way overpriced. ....and I would agree to buy the box and capsules for $20+shipping.....

PF67 UHC is pretty much the lowest grade you'll get on a modern NCLT unless it got scratched or damaged. Not worth a premium under any circumstances.

@ freddiev I too lurked for a year prior to joining. It's a great bunch of knowledgable collectors! This past Sunday at the Edmonton coin show, I had the pleasure of meeting 2 members from the general area. Since joining I've learned a vast amount of knowledge; saving me from making countless mistakes. I wish the same for you. Regarding the graded set; grading is big in the US. I see it, is the way of the future. Too many Chinese fakes being imported and sold. I believe in yrs to come, these will be the only way to discern a guanine corn. I certainly hope I'm proved wrong, not keen on the slab look. Enjoy your your time here and reach out to members.

How may sets of this issue were struck by the RCM? Australia has done quite a few fine all silver proof sets in recent years with a mintage of around 5,000 sets per year. If the mintage is roughly the same as the near equivalent Australian issue, then the price of this RCM set should be in the low $hundreds, not low $thousands.

Mintage is 5,001. Charlton 2015 gives it a book value of $75/coin for PR67 so $375 for the set.

Quote: Australia has done quite a few fine all silver proof sets in recent years with a mintage of around 5,000 sets per year. But the Canadian 2012 set doesn't have same idea, as recent RAM's sets. It more similar to 1998/1999 Masterpieces in Silver RAM's issues...

Kuh_85: Mintages and Charlton prices for the RCM issue are in the same ballpark as the Australian mintage figures and Australian catalog prices. Ta for the info.

What is the mintage of the 2012 silver proof set. I thought it was close to the 20k mark. Just over 5,000 seems very low. Should this be true I will be looking to pick up a couple more at a good price. The silver penny and silver dollar are stunning!! It is my favorite gilded silver dollar. The number seems to be very low. I find the regular proof set rather common. I did find the specimen silver dollar eye catching, and wish it would be a yearly offering as a single. Anyone else captivated by the silver penny, it was a wonderful way to end the series.

The mintage/final sales figure quoted by kuh_85 above (5,001) applies to the "Farewell to the Penny" silver proof set.
The final sales total for the 2012 Fine Silver Proof Set that included the annual commemorative silver dollar is 19,889.

The 2012 Special Silver set was available for CAD 137. I also very very like the Penny. But I have my way to collect, and although the set is nice, I need only single coin, that's why didn't buy it. Not surprised, that the final mintage close to the projected - it was purchased by collectors and dealers as well, cause it had great potential.

I was lucky enough to stumble across a set the same a few weeks ago... start price $195 or bin for I think $300. I ended up getting it for $195 + $20 for shipping. Good deal.... never happens to me.

Somehow I missed this was the penny set and not the pink gold penny. The pink gold penny is stunning, I cannot help drool over. They are still selling around $70 on ebay. Their price doesn't seem to fall. Same with the penny set. A 5k mintage doesn't seem to hurt them.
