I'm not sure how many different fractional set haw been minted by RCM. I noticed there were several this year and is this common. Also have they retained close to issue. I'm wondering if I should grab the reigning monarch set, as its back in stock at the mint, or wait for better prices. I never have track the fractionals before.

Collectors who have them, what are your opinions, and could you please post images.

Are there people who collect fractional sets.

My advice, just type "Canada Platinum Fractional set", and you will find the best designed sets ever.
Well, they from the 9x-ies, but unlike the recent sets, all the coins have different design.

But you probably asking about Silver Fractional sets, correct?

So here is my favorite:

2005 Fine Silver fractional set - Canada Lynx

Mintage: 15.000
Final Mintage: 7.942
Issue price: $89.95

The design is excellent - it originally chosen and implemented for the 1995 Platinum set.

When I started to collect the Animal themed coins, I find that some of them Mint use very rarely for the coins. Lynx, Grizzly for example (yes, they started to return) and I thought, that it too bad, but than I understand, that this fact makes the coins more rare.

So, as cat lover I hunted for this set (years ago, when the silver was on the peak)
I put the box with the angle to let the light to play on proof finish and not to enter to the reflection on the coins
[Just recently I got other case - same as for "2004 Arctic Fox set"]

And this coin (1/2oz) is my favorite in the set:

@Silveroid, a stunning set and great photos too! Another set to add to my growing list. I agree on the half oz coin. I have noticed the mint cant do a proportional cougar head. I too enjoy the cat coins. I have the cat 50 cent set, which is wonderful. Its nice to see something different than maples on the fractionals. There's only so many changes u can do to a maple leaf. Nice low mintage too. The mint used to come out with some stunning designs. Maybe they will come out with more top designs, now they are cutting back on issues.

I like the platinum sets. Are they readily available? I think most sets are in stronger hands. My favorite though is the 1989 Proof Maple Leaves, one and the only:

Great read in the other thread stunning photos too. It makes a person drool too. Is it the first frational set. They came up with a great idea of a 1 oz copper maple leak. I would go for that now we don't have the penny.

yes, the "Thee Metals 3*1oz ML Proof set" this is the "King of the Sets" (cause one and only, although atleast SMLs were available as singles).

And true - the Platinum Fractional sets are very few offered for sale.
