I heard from a retailer, that buys wholesale from Dansco, that
he was told the 7070 was never coming back. Discontinued, no update.

That would be a very dumb business move if true considering how much demand there seems to be.

Don't worry, Dansco will respond to the need if they see it.
Patience on the part of the collector is needed.
Use 2x2's in polypropylene or Mylar album pages as temporary storage.

I have talked with Dansco reps myself over the years,
while not on this particular subject. I will say that
I got the impression that they were very, how should I
put it... unmotivated... maybe? They didn't seem to put
much effort into the album side of their business. They
are a printing and binding company, and I am pretty sure
they do far more than just coin albums and folders. Our
portion of their products is probably very small. I
don't know for sure, but that's the impression I got.

I think your impression is correct. Dansco is in at least its second, if not third generation of ownership. Focus changes over time, and changes most when the baton is passed to a younger team.

It would be great if Whitman bought the rights to the Dansco line of coin albums. They could handle the design, marketing, distribution, and customer service end, while contracting the manufacturing to Dansco.

I have said this before (probably earlier in this thread.) Dansco makes corporate binders of all sorts. If I am Microsoft, every time I release a quarterly report, annual report or special presentation, I order specially embossed binders for my execs and important share holders.
Show of hands, how many of you who have 7070s plan to buy another one when yours is full ? Or how many who want one plan to buy 2, one for common grades and one for MS grades ?
Now tell me who's business is more important to Dansco ?

Exactly. Which is why I would like Whitman (or someone) to take over the line. They then become that recurring customer. Dansco has to hate allocating resources just to determine the specifics for what is really a niche market. Remove that requirement and they can focus on manufacturing the actual product.

I'd like to see a revamped album that ends at the silver era and which doesn't include the silver Eagle. Also I think that commemoratives should not be included. I guess I'm a fan of keeping business strikes separate from special issues.

A second album could deal with everything post silver - call it Dansco 7070A if you will.

I'd also like to shout from the rooftops - BRING BACK CANADIAN TYPE ALBUMS!
