There is no way this is just going to be an update page, considering how long it is taking. If this were the case, they could have still been making the (current) 7070 all along. The reason to not continue making the current 7070 is to build demand for a new version of the album.
It has to be a total redesign. If existing album owners are given the option to buy an updated page (I have done it before), they will do it. Restated, those buying the updated page will not be buying a new album (I have had the same 7070 over twenty years, just updated the modern page to get current).

I voted "No" because I have an older 7070. If I didn't have that I would probably vote "Yes". My main collection starts in 1959 (every circulation coin) with proofs starting in 1968 (S mint mark). I also have wheat Lincolns and Jefferson nickels back to the beginning. If silver keeps dropping I'm tempted to push dimes back to 1946, quarters back to 1932, and halves back to 1948. I thought that a Type Set would be a nice addition, and I would toss the bicentennial page if it weren't for the modern Commemorative dollar and Silver Eagle. I wish that page had, instead: 1 modern Commemorative dollar; 1 Silver Eagle; 1 $5 American Eagle gold (1/10th ounce); 1 $10 American Eagle platinum (1/10th ounce). If the new 7070 has that page I will probably try to get one. I have the gold page, but it's empty waiting for gold prices to drop some more!

I voted no.
I am patient. I would wait until others had updated and grab one of the older, used varieties for 5.00 at a show. Its just me, but I don't have to have the newest/flashiest of just about anything - still waiting for 50 inch flat screen TVs to get as low as I want to pay - getting close! There are very few modern coins I am interested in keeping up with since they have no intrinsic value (except I like the JFK set). I find chasing after old varieties to be as fun as chasing after the many, many, many, many (did I say many?) new designs on the clad quarters of today.

I voted no as I am content with the version I have. If the update is adding new modern "types" only, I am not interested. If they chose (should probably change to choose - future context) to include some variants of previously omitted classics, I might consider the "new" 7070.

I voted no since my 7070 collection is not literally in an album, I am just using the page descriptions.

The problem for me, and what just might be the thing that is causing Dansco grief, is all the modern coinage that now seems to be in a continual state of change. How do you make a simple and concise type album, when the mint is playing games with the coinage each and every year? Since the State Quarter program, the mint has been tampering with every denomination in some way or another, and not in permanent ways either. With coin designs in constant flux, it seems like it's almost impossible to make a consistent and concise type set. IMHO, there is no good way to include a single coin from a HUGE set like State Quartersor POTUS dollars. It's enough that the 7070 had to incorporate the bicentennial coins, but that's a small set, so easy enough. However, the mint has monkeyed extensively with cents, nickels, quarters, halves, and dollars for almost 2 decades straight now. It's gotten silly, and I think Dansco may not have a handle on how to deal with it in a way to make customers happy. That's just a guess, but it's where I'd be if I were responsible for making the album. I wouldn't even bother with commems in a type album myself. I'd only make space for the standard designs. Pretty much what stamp collectors do. They have the standard issues as one independent collection, and if you want to collect commems, then it's a whole separate collection.... different albums and all. They don't intermingle.

Dansco should have just continued making the 7070 as a 19th/20th century type set.

At this point I think that perhaps they are waiting until 2100 to release the updated 7070 (19th, 20th, and 21st century type set). They have been saying "coming soon" since 2012 (shrug).
I would love to get a type set going in a Dansco to match the rest of my collection.

Does anyone here know any people at Dansco that can shed some light on when the new one will be released? It seems that with all of the numismatic experience here, someone ought to know something.

Everyone needs to call and/or write them: Dansco Corporation (323) 734-6373 4313 W Jefferson Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90016 Maybe they will get the hint.

I want one and have been tempted to overpay. I've been checking all LCS in area for a used one as well. The reason why I haven't pulled the trigger is because I'm scared that with my luck dansco will release the new and improved after I drop 2-4x the price on a second hand 25 year old version.
Maybe if dansco won't release a new one, we could convince them to make custom made CCF 7070 version. I'm sure they'd go for that....... End of dream

I called because I figured why not. I got a machine saying that they would be closed until January 5th. I guess they don't get a lot of phone calls to warrant updating their machine?

I would rather see Dansco do one for a 20th century and beyond type set. I would like to see them incorporate some of the newer varieties ( ATB quarter, westward journey, 2009 lincolns, etc) but I don't want to have everything in the current 7070 PLUS all of those new varieties, it would get to be too large and would have too many pages. I like the current 7070 as it is now, so I just want one for the more recent century going forward. As a matter of fact I have the Whitman 20th and 21st centry type album and I really enjoyed filling it. I don't like how it is the only non-Dansco album I have, but I like the content and had fun filling it. Plus, I would think a Dansco 20th/21st century album would engage newer and/or younger coin collectors more due to most of the coins being more affordable and a portion of them can be found in circulation.
