I guess the question I had the first time I heard it is why call it the AMERO why not the U S "eh" No promlemo my friend. Amereh. There's also rumors that England might join this. They didn't join the Euro because they could do the math but now we're suppose to believe they want to trash the pound by co-mingling it with U.S and Mexican wall paper. In any case if they want to join it will change the shed-yule.

At this point it's pure fiction. The latest Coin World went into depth on this. The creator of the "pattern" coins is Dan Carr and I've talked with him a couple of times. He attends the same coin shows I go to. His material is very impressive but it's just "for fun".

I realize that the coin is not real or legal tender it was just something to add to get people to realize that talk is there but is it going to materialize or not.

Any such coin is way to late. Even Europes attempt to standardize the monitary system may be only temporary. I think in the near future there will be almost no coins or currency at all. Electronic systems are even now taking over everywhere. The ability to go from country to country will eventually be the necessity to go completely electronic. Also, the continuous growth of intercontenental material transactions will all be done electronically. Such things will make numerous monitary systems impractical. Even now in many places the plastic is taking over. I find almost everywhere I go the usage of plastic is used more than cash except in gum ball machines. No, it is to late to try a new monitary system here.

Never going to happen- nothing but pure urban myth created by the tin-foil hat and black helicopter crowd BTW, Daniel Carr is a member here and he is a genius at computer-designed coins which is how he created his Amero "pattern". He has also created several parody State Quarters and many other pattern-type coins in addition to being the artist for the New York and Rhode Island State Quarters. http://www.dc-coin.com/

I'll weigh in one more time...internet discussions of the Amero usually include mention of secret talks between the US, Mexico and Canada, the "Trilateral Commission" and a "super-interstate" running from Mexico all the way to Canada through the US heartland that would facilitate the rapid crossing of borders by truckers from Mexico and/or Canada. (BTW, the interstate would be true limited access, bypassing major cities almost completely, and allowing on- and off- ramps only in special locations.)
I've never been able to subtantiate any serious consideration of any of these claims, nor has anyone ever been able to clearly describe to me how "secret compacts with Canada and Mexico" could be put into place in abrogation of American law.
My opinion, therefore, is that there are REAL threats to the American way of life to worry about, and that this urban legend should die a speedy death.

WOW chrisild, I have never heard of that Hal Turner guy before but he is nuttier than a box of pecans quote: I told the Treasury person to get me an Amero by any means necessary - even if that meant stealing it. The Treasury person said it would require them to think about for awhile and if it could be done, I would get one in the mail. Today, I received a single 20 AMERO coin in the mail. A real coin. Real metal, really MINTED by the US Mint in Denver, CO. The proof that it is being Minted in Denver is that the coin is stamped with the Mint Identity letter "D" on the bottom right of the side with the eagle just like regular US coins already in circulation today! ll those who claimed these were "fantasy" coins can now explain why anyone in their right mind would spend Millions of dollars to create the rare and expensive professional dies and plates necessary for minting coins that will not be issued?
someone needs to let him in on the joke... As I was saying, tin-foil hat and black helicopter crowd

The doomsyers have been predicting the uniting of North America and a single currency for over 15 years now. Every time the leaders of the governments get together for talks the rumors start to fly. But no legislations or feelers have ever been put forth on such a goal so I seriously doubt if we will see anything like that in the near future.

I think this whole idea is just to avoid dealing with the fact that what we really need is another dollar coin

The Amero is on the way. Just watch that dollar drop. Plans for the superhighway in advanced stages at this point, amnesty always around the corner, erasing borders, cancelling national sovereignty for good...
Right now our national parks are collateral for nine trillion dollars of debt to central bankers and China. We should all be worried about this.
Absorbing the peso will be hurtful to the poor and the middle class. Best advice, is to buy divisible silver for when TSHTF.

Those who think that the North American Union is just something for conspiracy theorists had better think again. There are those who want it very much -- big biz for instance. The less the public knows, the better. Mexican trucks right now are rolling over our highways. That policy started recently in the dark of night. So much for politics. Regarding the coin, as stated, it is a Daniel Carr novelty piece -- for now. Those who think that the NAU is just a joke might want to watch Lou Dobbs weekday afternoons on CNN.
