Beautiful reverses with great stories behind them. Queen's portrait is not the best ones in my opinion.

Were these circulating coins? I've never been to Denmark, would a person likely find them (maybe after months of living there) in circulation?

The two coins pictured above are part of a five coin series called ''fairy tale coins,'' which were issued between 2005 and 2007. Mintage for each coin was 1.200.000.
So yes, they are ''circulating commemorative coins'' and you might be able to find them in circulation with a little luck.

The base metal types (10 kr, 20 kr) do indeed show up in circulation. The surcharged silver and gold versions do not. :)

I remember finding Andersen's White Queen or so 10kr. coin in circulation in København several years ago, along with several lovely 20kr commemorative coins, mostly from supermarket changes. Circulation is quite interesting in Denmark.
