This Vespasian silver denarius with the Titus & Domitian reverse (Flavian dynasty type) was recently listed on
ebay by a very reputable dealer.

This denarius was identified as cast fake was by the moderator of the
CFDL, who then notified the seller. The honest dealer immediately withdrew the lot.
I wanted to post it here because it is an excellent example of how deceptive fakes can be, how they can sometimes pass by even the best dealers, and how they can be detected by making use of the very valuable online databases of known fakes.
Notice how well the coin matches these known fakes, duplicating each edge defect:

ebay coin is by far the most convincing. These four coins apparently were all cast using the same host coin but the faker got a little better in his technique each time.
