Tough one..I see the distracting dark vertical scratch. I do see a "D" looking thing directly southeast of that dark scratch, but genuine 1916-D's I've seen have the mintmark higher and tilted pointing more southeast. Then again the positioning isn't exact.
Need a couple more pics at a lower angle instead of directly overhead.

Yea, I don't see a D either. I see somewhat of a shadow maybe resembling a D but thats all. And I didn't see any kind a raised area from a side view. I will take more pics shortly and post.

Clary1265, have you tried an acetone bath? It will not hurt the coin. Maybe a D will pop out.IMHO
