Picked up a few nice error coins.
Not much in the way of Canadian coins available. Surprised, considering the size of the show. Absolutely massive.
Overall I'm glad I attended. I am in Florida on vacation anyway.

I just viewed all 3 auction catalogs on the CC&C website and it's too bad the Landon sale has taken the spotlight away from the Victorian North Collection which deserves recognition of it's own. Either way I will be playing it smart and bidding only on items I must have ;)

Looking at the start price on most items, I don't think I'll even bother to watch to see if there is something I will bid on. If all goes well, grandpa's coin collection will make some family members pretty happy.

Chuck Moore was displaying some of the better coins at the CAND show this weekend and I was lucky enough to be set up right beside him. I questioned him on the packaging of the coins and he showed me a peice of the "tissue paper" that most of the coins were individually wrapped in. It was nothing special but obviously did the job very well, and had no odor. In his words "it looks like some of these coins were just released by the Franklin Mint." Looks like the Landon auction will be running late, left at 12:30am and they hadn't even finished the lots of large pennies yet. Bids were strong across the board, particularly on the early tokens and all the US. I hope others did better than I did, I stayed conservative and got skunked! Better luck next time I guess ;)

In a word.....incredible almost 2 million dollar sale. Ended after 4 am.Early part was wild as fed said. It was go big or go home.A great deal of the large cent lots all went to the same home at very very strong prices. There were some good deals towards the end when the US guys left and the large cent nuts went home empty handed. I was able to get one nice large cent lot and about twenty of the silver lots. The demise of the Canadian market is overrated. There is life!

Anyone who is put through that bullcrap of staying around 3am to buy lots, should be financially rewarded. As far as the 'demise of the Canadian market' comment, I have to respectively disagree. Out of the first 300 lots (mostly US coins) there were predominantly only four (4) buyers. With the Canadian coins, up until midnight (the time I packed it in on Icollector) there were three main winners (one of the US bidders from the previous group) and two strong Canadian bidders (I would strongly guess they were dealers). Oh, also, out of the Icollector winners, most of the coins were purchased from only ONE bidder from Tulsa Oklahoma.

I was soooo miffed about the tokens... I know tokens are doing well I had some pretty aggressive bids in for those tokens and not ONE came through... then it just became a waiting game and I was hoping that the "big shooters" would run out of ammo...
Such was not the case really...

I was trying to see what the round top brought, couldn't find it in the listings, anyone know how it did?

That was an amazing auction. I wonder if those large cents will make their way back into the market. Tough to match some of those heavy hitters.
I stayed up until 2am. I note that after they finished the large cents they really whipped through the 5 cents. I won a couple (and lost many more) just because they did closed the bids very quickly. They did not give us iCollector bids a chance to click.
