This is a 1997-P LMC. Is this feature too straight to be a die crack? What is it?

Looks like a gas trail bubble to me.

TO me it looks like a crack. Even though it is straight, it does have a wavy appearance in the center. I found a coin a while back that had three die cracks that looked just like this one.

A linear plating bubble would be a lot thicker than a die crack.

The lines indicated in the pictures of both coins suggest evidence of die cracks to me, at least.

I must concur the the experts above. A die crack must start or end at the rim, so from what I'm seeing it appears to be a die crack. I have a similar one that is a straight line from the rim, halfway through the bottom step where it ends. I would post pics, if only I knew where it was:(

I have a stash of coins that I need to re-check to see what is really going on with. There are about 50 in my stash location. These are not major varieties, just new stuff not listed yet.

Not always.

In not as common cases, a die crack will start and end anywhere on the coin. But I agree it is a crack.

I am most grateful to all for your help. Explaining why a feature carries a certain id is most helpful.
