So, it's not the best of shape but I don't care when it only cost $5.

Yes signature is not common, however, this is a polymer note, am I right?

Looks to be in a good enough condition, not worn or tears in that spot...

Was just looking up Carney's history and he was Governor of the Bank for Canada
for ~ 5 years (2008-2013), were there not many bills produced during his "reign"?

A quick search in the Canadian paper money forums online, will reveal just how scarce this bill is...

Mark Carney had already departed for England, when the polymer $5 bills were released.

Last I heard, it was a single sheet (40 notes?) that escaped...? Perhaps a paper money collector can chime in here.

So someone was carrying in their pocket/wallet,
this one of 40 total in number polymer bills with
Carney's signature. Like spending a 2000P dime.
Wonder how many hands it passed through before
Zonad landed that one. Good karma. Someone at
the bank deserves a coffee and favorite pastry.

Spp I think the numbers are a bit higher than that but I will try to see what the cpms has on it first.....

But your basically right on this one... There was a lot of talk of changeover prefixes etc... But when the $5's were released they were all supposed to have polez's signature....

I remember reading something to the effect of there being a short run of carneys's that were initially run prior to press release but I will dig a bt to try and get the numbers for you....

Needless to say even in this condition zonad this IS definitely a keeper.... I don't know the value... But if ever want to get rid of this... Lemme know

yeah, the Carneys are quite rare. Seems to be that they were used to calibrate vending machines prior to the polymer notes being released and some got spent rather than returned to the BOC.

http://www.banknotenews.com/files/tag-canada.php

"5 dollars, 2013. Like B71, but earlier signatures (Macklem and Carney). According to the Bank of Canada, 3.6 million of these notes have been printed, all with the HBG prefix. However, since November last year only about 20 of these notes have been found in circulation, all from a narrow 300,000-note range."
Rest in Peace

Is this the signature on the $5.00 and the $100.00 that people are looking for..?
Are they looking for $10.00 and $20.00 notes to..?

All of the $10 and $20 issues so far are Carney signatures to my knowledge. I haven't seen any Poloz notes yet for those denominations.
