Pretty certain it's not real - your thoughts?

probably cracked out a genuine piece and replaced it.

Who would keep a valuable coin like that in a damaged holder?

Best sold as a raw coin.
I am suspicious enough not to be attracted to it, 'as is'.

If you have several hundred dollars to potentially waste, go for it.
But I suggest you hit BACK and look elsewhere.

Note that there are no close-up pics for one to get a good look at the diagnostics. There is one diagnostic that is visible and telling. There should be a dentil located squarely below the 1 in the date. Note that this is not the case here. So, I have reported it.

A pastor friend of mine once carefully cracked out a PCGS Morgan and substituted a Roosevelt dime. He did this to show coin club members that they should buy the coin, not the slab. We were unable to see evidence of his tampering in that case. This was about twenty years ago now, and perhaps PCGS has since improved the casing so as to make it more tamper-proof?

- listing was removed.

Wow, first catch - thanks to all.

The tell for me was the even-ness of the coin all around, both obverse/reverse - little to no patina/toning, no nicks @ all (hard to see under the cracked plastic though). Not a Morgan (or VAM) expert, but I love the coin design enough to tell subtle differences to one upon closer inspection.
