Hey everyone. I was browsing ebay again, and I saw a coin that interested me: An absolutely beautiful denarius of Severus Alexander. I looked at the price, and it was $0.99 with shipping at $3.50. The seller seems legit, and he/she has lots of other nice ancient coins at low prices. What's the catch?

I dont see a problem with the listing..99 is the starting bid it will go for a fair price when the auction ends in 3 days.

Cheap opening bid will draw a lot of bidders in.

it won't finish at 0.99...that's for sure. still may be able to get a good deal on it, it's a nice looking coin I think.

Many people will start their auctions low with no reserve to get more people to watch it and eventually hopefully bid on it. Plenty of people would swoop in at the last second if it almost actually went for .99 (although I'll bet it's happened at least once.)

Are you going to have a go at it, Mike?

If not, I would be interested but only if you are not going to bid.
