I won this 1882-S Morgan on ebay yesterday and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. These are the auction photos. I'm going to try and pick up one nice Morgan each month for a while to add some to my collection. What do people think of this one? Thanks for your grading opinions. Paul Bulgerin

It's really tough to tell from these photos, but I think I detect just a hintt of abarasion on the tip of Liberty's Phrygian cap and on the hair above her ear. Such could drop it down to AU, but if not, the other contact marks are minimal, and then MS64 or even 65 could be where it comes in. You'll just have to see when you have it in hand. If you can later post them, it'd be instructive to see another set of photos so as to determine if the auction ones were taken in such a way to make the coin look better than it actually is (there are some ebay sellers who seem to have become masters at that).

Thanks for the responses so far. I paid $40 for it.
I'll post photos when I receive the coin.

MS-64, maybe better. $40 is a great price.

I've received the coin and am pleased with it. It has some light "chatter" in the obverse fields, but no major marks or gouges. Sorry the photos aren't better, but I'm having trouble photographing the coin with all the luster (which isn't really a problem, better lots of luster than the alternative).

Based upon your photos, I have no further thought that it might be AU - MS64+, I'd say.
