I absolutely hate sites where a text follows my mouse pointer
Is there any way whatsoever I can block or ban this ?
I allready blocked popups and flash and active X
Does anybody know what this follow the mouse pointer is called?

Mostly I run from those sites but I like the coin

I went to the site & I'm not getting this "text follows my mouse pointer." Maybe it's browser related. I'm using Firefox. Try Firefox & see if you still get this problem.

That's javascript that does that. If you turn off javascript it will stop, but so will a ton of good things. You'll throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Me personally, the only thing that bothers me more than those things is sound that I didn't ask for.

I just don't understand why someone trying to sell you something deliberately distracts you. If I have a minute I usually email them and let them know they should be trying to sell a product, not show off coding skills garbage that they did cut and paste from a Google search.

FYI, the ones that are a rotating circle of text that trail the mouse then snap back to a circle when the pointer stops, have been known to cause seizures in epileptics.

I looked at it in FF, which is pretty much an exclusive browser for me, I hate IE - I saw nothing following my mouse around. The solution is to get FF and dump IE. IE is the popup and virus queen since it is the most used that is what people target.

Completely off topic really, but it's actally the opposite now, FF has more vulnerabilities found these days than IE. In any case, it's completly moot point as long as one patches properly, and both IE (along with Windows in general) and FF both have autopatching routines.

Back on topic, I hate that javascript showoff junk too, I completely ignore any autcion that pulls stuff like that. :)

Sagan is right, IE7 is just as on top of things (if not more) now than FF.

Except when it comes to mouse-followers.

Mouse-followers are not even close to a security risk.

Funny story: My Mother-in-law is a total Hoyle card games junkie. Hours and hours and hours a day. Gets cranky and goes through withdrawal when she can't play.

I found a gag program that lets you select a "skiddish" desktop icon. After you select it, whenever the mouse goes near it, it runs away. You can't catch it.

Now that was funny.

I loathe the idiots that put ridiculous musical selection in their numismatic auctions. Like I need that when I am surfin' the net under the boss's nose.

I turned of all sound
I disabled all pop ups and flash
I really do not understand why if you want to sell something you make the buyer run as fast as he can
However I need java sun for my charting service

Firefox is my back up browser cause it is so easy to enable flash with a simple click

I have a router firewall and then a norton firewall and then norton security for viruses etc ...

Might kinda be offtopic but is there a way to stop the ads that pop up in the page if your pointer ever goes over the banner? Sites are doing this more and more and it is so annoying. Think they are called mouse over ads.

All kind of help programs on your computer use the same technology
so it may not be a good idea to disable the feature

I keep my mouse pointer as much as possible on the scroll bar on the right unless I am typing in a forum window
