That is a pattern made by the Mint to save copper; just one known (The Smithsonian specimen). So, I think you got a counterfeit.

Hard to write a history on that one.

The obverse "toning" or aging does not match the reverse.

Looks like it may have been holed in the past based on the reverses even toning and damage and recently milled / lathed in an attempt to enlarge the hole based on the color difference on the obverse.

I'd say 1847 for the coin.

Our attempt at a coin similar to chinese cash coins. Sorta like a Trade dollar...a trade cent. LOL.
