Hello all,
I recently came into some information regarding the 76 D bicentennial DDO variety, it caused me to have to dig out my bicentennial stash.. I have found 3 that have identical doubling different from the rest. I know this would be ridiculous of me to assume I have 3 of this variety at the price they fetch on ebay, and its assumed rarity. No one is that lucky. so I'm asking for valid opinions on rather or not you think any 1 of these or all are worth the money to have them graded. The one has a very odd D mark behind GW's hair role (above the pony tail) directly behind his head, it is raised, canted, and fuzzy to the point that you have to turn it in the light with a loop to make out that it is a D. One thing that I am absolutely certain of is that it is a D, just dont understand how that happened. And if it is a DDO, does the mint mark issue take value from it? Or if it is not a DDO, does the issue add value it self. 20:02
& for the Missus
Ill do my best on pics.
For anyone interested enough to view this and reply, I thank you for your time.

This is the best I can get at the moment with my loop and cell phone camera to get the maker mark on the quarter from the first pic.

to the CCF -

I am unable to judge the authenticity of the DDO based on your photos - there is for sure a Denver mint doubled die obverse of this coin.

The mysterious mint mark is not what you are hopeful for ... it's simply a blemish on the coins surface and not a mis-placed MM punch.

Nickelsearcher,
Thank you for the information, however I am working on better photos so that you can see what I mean about the proposed mm and possible DDO. It is in the shape of a slightly embossed D sunk in the middle. I can feel it as well on my finger nail as being a raised device, also looking through the loop. It seems to elude my cheapo cell phone pics. However I am no expert, and I have been wrong before when I thought for sure I was right about something. I'm not dismissing your opinion, but id like to work on getting better photos. I dont want to spend the money to have it proofed this close to the holidays unless more valid opinions than mine say they think more so than not that they could be real DDO's. Again thank you for your time

The first coin looks like it came from an over-polished die. All appear to be from normal dies. Circulation may have affected the motto's on the coins. The anomoly of a mint mark behind the head looks like a stain. Note other areas of colors that change in that direction toward the rim. If it were another mint mark it would be raised. This looks like a stain on the field in that area. (The eyes deceive us at times.)
