I thought I'd share this proof set with you guys. I love these hard plastic cases; they really make the coins 'pop' ! I'm currently working on getting every year 1950-63 in these plastic cases and so far I have 1950, 1951(In the original box and packaging), 1952, 1953, 1960, 1963. I really like the 1953 because of the Franklin's CAM/DCAM appearance. Might be slab-worthy at some point!

A very attractive Franklin. As long as there aren't any hairlines that aren't showing in your photos, I think it'd grade high for this era of issue. I wouldn't be surprised if it was given just a cameo designation, though.

I am not at all familiar with why "just" - it sounds like that would be lower on some scale. Can you explain what scale? I have not studied this area at all!

That is one nice Franklin. When these are cameos they really make the frosted areas pop. There aren't really any major distractions I can see, however I do not think it would make DCAM, just CAM. Very nice example of an early proof Franklin!

On a side note you have some really great photography skills!

Beautiful Ben.

I agree that it's a cameo, don't think a TPG would give it a dcam though.

Too many breaks in the heavy frost on the bell for dcam, but it's a GREAT proof! If it's a 65 cameo, you're looking at around $300. Just to give you a reference point, to help you weigh the cost of the coin and grading fees to see if the juice is worth the squeeze.

Congratulations.

Won't DCAM. Not sure if it will CAM, reverse milk spot above eagle and marks on obverse at 5:30 and 6:30 will detract. All in all a nice collector coin though. Here is a link to my 1953 CAM for reference.

DCAM 1953's are hen's teeth - of 783 Heritage auctions of 1953 Proofs, only 33 were DCAM.

I don't like capital holders because they can be deceiving, but those are beautiful.

Very nice 1953 proof set. Check out the flow lines on obverse and reverse. There was a recent thread on flow lines on proof coins. Not sure if more common on modern or earlier proofs.
