westcoin Pillar of the Community United States 9792 Posts	Posted 12/01/2014 9:47 pm Thanks for that, I was at first skeptical that it would very good, until I read the people behind the scenes, Bob Campbell (photographs), and Roger Burdette (editor and proofreader), both VERY highly respected numismatists, I've taken a few courses from Bob Campbell and he is a heck of a savvy grader and dealer. Gotta love how there is already a used copy available and it's priced more than the new copies, the book has only been out for sale since 11-29-14! "Buy the Book Before You Buy the Coin" - Aaron R. Strach-Man Valued Member Canada 491 Posts	Posted 12/02/2014 2:41 pm Book can help you get started on how to Grade coins the thing you have to remember grading changes when you start getting into the MS grade. The higher the grade in MS the more detail you have to look having a good loupe will help you. Do not buy a cheap one thinking you can save money a good one with 3 triple lens will cost you around 50.00 dollars. I have a 14 x and a 7x loupe and it works great Dan Flynn has a good website and some great idea's on the site how to help you learn how to get use to grading coins Don't always believe what a book tells you Charlton states that an MS-60 coin can have scratches and they say nothing about rim damage. For me and coin that has scratches or rim damage is not a MS-60 coin Report this Post to the Staff
