In all of my reading on this Forum, and in all of my 'research' into Roman coins, I have never come across one of these coins for sale, or referred to, by anyone.

Now I have.

I came across a reference to this Julius Caesar Denarius just today, and it piqued my curiosity as most defeated enemies were shown cowering, or with their head removed.

I wondered if anyone has one of these in their collection that they could show to us, or a story that they could relate to us?

This is falsely known as the Vercingetorix denarius when in fact it depicts a Gaulish person but not Vercingetorix. Still this is a very desirable coin and commands a big price. I would love to own one.

That looks like a very "hellenized" portrait on the gold stater .

I'm nearly certain I saw one of these in a museum, although whether it was in Chicago, Boston or LA I can't remember. They're extremely interesting coins.

Sorry, C.M. - Pardon my ignorance, but what does "O.P." refer to, please?

(I just came up with 'Original Post' - would that be it?)
