I am new to the Coin World and found my 1st real error :) Not in the greatest shape but neat to have found one. Your expertise and coin terminology are appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi there! And glad to see you enjoying the hobby! I am not one of the finer experts on here, but I will go on to say that at least from what I can make of the areas you point out, all I see is circulation damage and no errors at all. The spots on Lincoln's head just appear to be foreign material stuck to the coin and a good soak in acetone will lift that right off (looks like glue or gum to me eyes)

I took a more close up to see it a little better. I am seeing the reverse image on Lincoln's face. Is this a better pic? :)

Not sure what you think your seeing but do to that much damage, would not be worth much as is.

Based on what you describe that you are seeing in hand (the images don't seem to do it justice), and from what I see you are indicating on the rim, what you have is simply an impression left by another cent when the two of them were squeezed together at some point when in circulation. You often hear this refered to as a "squeeze job". Not an error, just damage.

To me that "squeeze job" just looks like gook (i.e., "foreign material", as unholyroller noted) on the obverse that took the impression of the coin next to it in a roll.

Check the reverse and let us know if you have a WAM! (It would only figure that a coin in that condition would be one...)

, tpthemask592! Good luck with further hunting!

I've got to hand it to you with the expertise :) you were right on the foreign matter. Almost an embarrassing moment. Good thing I was able to laugh at myself once I cleaned it. I was just following the "Do Not Clean" rule. Live and learn. Thanks for the expertise in foreign matter Going to be snickering for a while when I think about it...
