The "pad" is his or her tail.
Great battered, deep fried and
powdered with sugar and cinnamon.

Very interesting, I even didn't think, that somewhere people prepare like this the beaver's tail. So probably, this is somewhere in the touristic place?

Started in Ottawa but available coast to coast now. There is even a store in South Korea.

Really, they are glorified doughnuts but still pretty tasty.

The only good thing about winters in Ottawa, skating on the Rideau canal and having a beavertail!

We have to be grateful, that we have winter (and other seasons in their classic appearance).

Have nothing bad to say about different communities and people that came to here, but in the Southern Ontario some people complaint on the "cold in winters and snow".

Oh I just realized what is going on in this beaver coin theme with the wolf or atleast that's what it looks like to me.

Looks like a nice coin but agree 100K mintage is too high.

Well, I don't understand why people complaining about mintage? What does it mean - mintage is too high? Too high for flipping, too high for collecting? Would people buy more of this coin if the mintage would be 90K? Or less, if it would be 110K? I understand when we are talking about expensive and low mintage coins (<5K or even <2K). Then the mintage would make a significant impact on a decision to buy it. But now, with 100K of mintage? RCM will sell this coin without an issue and most of the people will be happy to keep it.

Mts, yes your right , mintage on a XforX doesn't really matter as it will be hopefully always worth FV ,But some of us are tired of seeing the never ending dump of XforX coins, I would prefer the mint make a few Low mintage XforX with a nice low mintage for a change, personally I prefer low mintage coins and while yes I will buy some higher mintage coins from time to time, I always look at mintage when buying a coin, but everyone is different which is a good thing.

Although these coins with be worth face value, they are still relatively dropping in value due to inflation, but collecting these based on design is the major reason I want these, but I would rather pay the premium over spot for a nice finish like proof or so, rather than paying for larger numbers on it (higher face value) since if you plan on buying the coin to redeem is, then there really isn's any need for it in the first place. A lot of the times I buy coins that I like and I know I wont be able to get later on since they are low mintage so become harder to get. But these high mintage ones are so easy to get later on that it discourages me to buy it.
Recently when silver was low, I sold/redeemed a lot of my FV coins and bought bullion silver, knowing that I can get them anytime again. Now I did not sell my superman coins or so since those might be harder to get.

Much earlier, I would say the same like MTS : "Who cares the mintage if I like the design and buy the coin for myself".

But now it changed.
Together with silver drop, oversaturation of the market with the coins (NCLT crash?) - not really possible to buy all what we like.
So why I will give mine $50 (isn't it a money?) for just nice coin, that minted in the huge quantities? What for?
I'll better save save it and put in some 5.000-6.000 1oz'er , that probably will cost $100-$150

In simple words: will prefer 200for200 coin, rather than 4 50for50 coins.

I'm a bit late to the party, been hanging in the first forum. Numoosy I like your pics of the beavers. The big one, his tail looks like a ready made table for him in that position!! Great info @ Northern, I've seen a few beaver at the lake bordering our homestead. I saw them swimming lots and hear the tail slap as a kid. I will get a couple probably around march, no real hurry.
