According to my Charlton book, HNA prefix with high numbers 9.800M-9.999M is supposed to bring $115 in GUNC condition. Obviously, this note is nowhere close. Any ideas to the condition, and any ideas to why this particular range of serial numbers has any value?
There are many vertical folds and the note is hardly stiff anymore. I found it in circulation several months ago. I hope these pictures turned out good enough:
Note looks like a F12 from the photos.... As for why the bump in value for this particular range... Without looking at my books my first guess would be this is a replacement range
Aha! I thought that replacement notes from the series always ended in X, but apparently that was dropped in the late '90s. The HNA prefix would have came after that change. I guess this counts as my first replacement note.
I just got one of those Wednesday in change with a GOH prefix, I don't know very much about bills. A couple of folds but good crisp colour. Sorry but I haven't started pics/posting photos of my stuff yet. I do like finding Radar notes.
It's been a strange weekend, because I got a different $5 bill two days ago and a $10 yesterday from that series. I like looking at serial numbers as well; the $10 was almost a radar but had a number in the wrong spot. Given the condition you described, it's only worth $5-7.
Thanks for the info, I will keep anything older than current. It is in decent shape for paper but not CU. I haven't lost out as I got it for face I guess.
Definitely. I am saving anything that would otherwise be sent back to be destroyed, no matter condition. And even the better that you got it for face value!
