If I am not mistaken, ebay does not allow sellers to profit from ridiculous shipping fees. See this one. It's in a basement slab, and looks like crap for the supposed grade. I suspect a scam so that when the unlucky buyer gets it and wants to send it back, seller says he will not refund shipping fees. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1893-S-Morg...em19f85f9201Edited by jimbucks 12/07/2014 8:02 pm

Quote:Note* shipping costs are higher only so ebay will release funds to me quicker. Haha, I wonder how long ebay lets this stand. According to the seller's location, he's only a few miles down the road from me. Imagine paying $9000 to get a coin shipped 5 miles to my house! (not that I'd ever buy a piece of junk in an NNC slab in the first place)

It used to be, but now ebay ILLEGALLY charges a final value fee on shipping prices as well. So ebay doesn't care now that they will still get the same cut of the action. That said, Its a dirty trick and immediately would rule out my business with any seller using this scheme.

After looking into this seller's other listings, I've found that the one linked in this topic is the only one with the outrageous shipping. Also for some reason, that particular listing shows his location as Texas, while his other listings show it as Oklahoma. What's going on there?

Reported to ebay but I doubt if they'll do anything.

Here is the Centsles auction of the same coin with the same pictures: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1893-S-MORG...047675.l2557Note that the winner has a feedback score of 34. The seller has a feedback score of 79. Looks like a hacked account to me...

Seller doesn't offer returns. Buyer covered by ebay's buyer protection. ebay refunds the price of the item and buyer is out the shipping charge?

It would always irk me to see a seller selling something for 99 cents and then charging $19.95...$24.95 in shipping to get around paying ebay their rightful fees. I don't see what ebay is doing at "ILLEGAL" at all, just good business on their part.
