I came across this Buffalo nickel a few years ago. I really don't know anything about coin errors, but I believe this nickel has a small Cud. Any idea what a coin like this is worth? Considering I only paid 50 cents for it, I'd say I got a good deal. The coin has good details. What would the grade be? It also has some surface anomalies(sort of a grainy texture)maybe from corrosion or a harsh cleaning. The rim seems to be damaged at places especially next to the Y in Liberty. Any help or information on this coin would be much appreciated. Thank you

Neat find for 50 cents!

I'd say it has some environmental damage (pitting) from being buried, so it would only "net" grade.

I'd put a value of 5$ to 10$ on it. Others may have a different opinion.

I have no doubt it would go north of 20 bucks. Nice coin.

I don't like what appears to be abrasion scratches on the obverse from 2 to 8.
Slightly above average strike.
High VF or maybe even a -40.
And of course the Cud is a plus.

This coin would sell on ebay for at least $40.00....even with the pitting.

The 1919 Buffalo nickel is known to have a number of Cud varieties. The reason for all the Cud varieties that year is because they stretched the die lives out too long to create a mintage of 60,000,000+.
The one you own is a common location for die failures.

I also agree with Westernsky, the coin looks to have environmental damage (pitting). However, I would still give it a net grade of VF40.
