can we see a picture of the edge? So far, looks like either worn or heat treated (melted)

Looks like a Dryer Coin from what I can see. The edges are rolling over from dropping over and over in the drum.

Yes, now that's how I remember seeing them reported. But the Monticello image does looks as if it was melted.
