Welcome. Great coin to start off with! Not something I know about per se, but besides the primary strike, it looks like it was struck with the planchet partially in two or three additional times, and rotated somewhat as that occurred. I'm not understanding (if that's in fact what happened) why the reverse looks pretty normal, though. Very cool in any case. Can you divulge the backstory on it (so far as you know)?

91 Very interesting Morgan you have there. Unfortunately I do not have enough knowledge to share with you on this coin but it is very neat!

Opinions on these vary. I for one think they are legit one off errors. If I'm going through the trouble of creating something to scam someone( not that I ever would ) I would add an s to a 1909 vdb. So easy to do and they sell on ebay constantly. Too much work here to make a coin that doesn't bring a premium of any size. I think it's cool and real

Welcome to the CCF, 91o collector. For those who may have missed the thread on similar looking nickels, here's the one I had posted:

Struck from a false obverse die. The reverse area opposite the doubling area shows signs of distress and weakness, especially at the rim area.

I would also think false dies because f it was real then it was struck off-center at least three times before the final on center strike. Now if it WAS struck off-center three times in the mint press do you really think it would still perfectly round and able to fit into the collar for the final on center strike? I don't think so.

Thanks for the comments and the link to the Liberty nickel thread (great read) I would comment that the reverse area opposite the doubling would be around the Star-ONE-D looks relatively strong and without much distress. Also of note, there appears to be possibly a minor raised area between the eagle's right wing and the wreath that looks very much like the feathers at about the middle of the wing (I will try to get a photo of that on here later today)
