Hi all,
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me with this coin. I purchased a collection recently and when perusing it noticed this 1899 Newfoundland 50 cent piece seemed different then a 1918 50 cent that was next to it. Upon examining the coin I believe it is the 1899 wide 9 variety but all info seem to say that the coin should have medal alignment and mine is showing coin alignment with the reverse die rotated 180 degrees.

I've searched online and don't see any mention of this as a variety any thoughts would be appreciated.

My Charlton says that Victoria Newfoundland 50 cents have coinage alignment.

Yes, that's a wide 9.

Thanks for letting me know, I checked several different websites that said medal alignment that's what had me confused.
