the mintmark is the same size as the d in god.also the position is odd.

Mint marks were added to working dies by hand until 1989. So they may have used the wrong D and placed it out of the normal location.

The design has all the devices in place on the design on the master die except for the mint mark till 1989. So it can't be a "D" from the design. It would be a mint mark punch that made the mint mark. If they are the same size, it would still com from the punch into the die.

Looks like the punch was larger at that time. They all are that size from Denver.
