Hey guys, I found this about a week ago while roll hunting, and I would like to know if this is either a broadstrike or off centre, or are these terms interchangeable? how do you tell the difference?

Also what would you put as a value of this coin?

Nice find..it is considered an "off-center" but not an "off-center broadstrike" as all the design elements would need to be present on both sides. IMO

Just wondering, is it only the photo or is the coin not flat?

Off-centre. If it was off-centre and broadstruck, it would be flat.

I agree it's an off center strike. For the value, it may be around $10.

The section that was squished out (upper left) is curved outward so it is not flat. Thanks for the help guys.

The reason this off-center has a portion that is like a raised lip is because of the collar die. You can see the upper flange on the obverse that sat on top of the collar, while the obverse and reverse dies struck the coin off-center. This also proves that the reverse was the hammer die (Victorian coins were sometimes struck with the obverse being the hammer die).
