I trust this coin has been cleaned since it is in a "no name" type slab?
I am looking for one for my type set

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1851-Three-...381087391692

Thanks in advance for your help..

Looks ok to me. BTW, ICG is no "no name" slabber.....2nd tier perhaps but fairly reputable.

ICG is a credible TPG, though on the market they are usually considered second-tier behind the big 3 (PCGS, NGC and ANACS)

In this case, I think the grading is accurate and I don't think it has been cleaned.

Thanks guys~!! As many coin shows I have been to I have never seen one coin graded by ICG so I assumed and rather incorrectly that it was just another slab used by ebay sellers. I need to get out more!

At one time the grey sheet valued ICG graded coins over 100% of PCGS graded coins. The coin looks nice and original to me. Were you the purchaser?

This one is not ICG's best effort. I'm closer to AU50 on it, but I see no reason to doubt their judgement on authenticity or surfaces.

Thanks again everybody for their input and my sincere apologies to anyone at ICG that may come across this topic. Altho I have collected for many decades this recent project is the only one I have bought mostly slabbed coins for (because I don't always recognize what a "details" coin might be am am not an expert at grading) and until the last few months of this year all my purchases have been in person, at a coin shop or at a coin show.

My only other slabbed coins I even own were a (I broke them out of their slabs) 1916 D Mercury dime and an 1877 IH penny so slabbed coins are a bit new for me to personally purchase and have stayed entirely with PCGS primarily or NGC on a couple of them.

I will know in the future to consider their coins thanks to all of you here. I love learning something new and yes Jim, that was me that purchased it

I own some ICG slabs, I like them very much for Lincolns.

I have also found that ANACS small white slabs are right up there with PCGS and NGC. The newer ANACS are hit and miss.

Picture is overlit which makes it look washed out like a cleaned piece. Looks like second generation ICG slab, not a basement slabbing firm, coins shows a very nice example of "ghosting", especially on the reverse.
