APMEX price $10 per coin below 'survival money' price. What do they mean by 'survival money'? Who's survival?

APMEX if you buy one at a time actually comes out even as they charge $10 to ship as their Holiday Special. Normally their shipping rates are even higher.

I feel really bad for this guy: n***d ( 237Feedback score is 100 to 499) US $31.99 16 Apr-15-14 17:36:01 PDT People need to learn how to buy things elsewhere. I deeply regret buying a number of ASE's from LCS back in the 2002-2005 for $20 a coin. But preppers, even though they can (and do) have the occasional brilliant idea, seem to do rather bad when it comes to precious metals. Take 1/10 ounce silver rounds vs "junk" silver dimes (1/10 ounce vs .0715 ounce), for example, $2460 vs $1340, $24.6 per ounce vs $18.74 per ounce...at current APMEX price. And I see those 1/10 ounce round even higher on the Bay.

The same mentality that causes preppers to think the US will fail in a day also causes them to make impulsive decisions on ebay. In all reality, the US is doing about good. No need to worry.

I think that add is more for straight up idiots than "preppers"... Preppers are generally pretty smart with they're money... Just because a few of these ridiculous lots have sold doesn't mean a prepper bought them, in fact they probably didn't, contrary to a few comments above. Please, Groszy, Share some personal, cited examples of where a "prepper" over paid for PM's when it could have been had for less elsewhere? People over pay all the time... Preppers, lawyers, mechanics, doctors, teachers..... Bums... And I'm sure even you and me at one time or another. I'm blown away by the generalizing and snotty attitude in a couple of the comments.
Just because the moron seller states it's for "survival and prepping" or whatnot doesn't mean every prepper is going to run out and jump all over it. I'm pretty disappointed with a couple of the juvenile, narrow minded responses... Sure, I'm sure there's more than a handful of "crazy" preppers... But let's not lump them all together as such... thats whats crazy. I'm sure some preppers think the prices we pay for some of our coins is "nuts" or money stupidly spent, but I bet they'd have the respect to not talk smack.
I'd be more than surprised if none of are members were preppers... In fact I'd be willing to bet there's more than a few. What's wrong with being prepared? It doesn't mean every single one of them thinks there's going to be a zombie apocalypse, nuke strike, aliens etc, there are serious things that can and quite possibly will happen. Heck, even FEMA recommends prepping at least a three month supply of all you and your family will need... O, but they all must be nuts too.
Obviously I love coins, so no offense intended, but.... the prepping/survival community is HUGE... I guarantee there's more survivalists/bushcrafters than coin collectors in the world... So let's please keep the snide, or even rude comments to ourselves. You don't want to prep... Fine... That's your choice, but hold your tongue, just because someone preps doesn't mean they're stupid or what not, that's just uncalled for, preppers arnt beneath you and your lifestyle just because of what they choose to do.
Obviously, I for one do prep... And I take it very seriously, and in fact make my living teaching survival/self sufficient skills. Do I think the world is going to end? Well no... Why the heck would I be prepping? There wouldn't be anything left. But if we loose power for a week or two like we did a few years back with two feet of snow on the ground I like to know I'm prepared, whereas many of my neighbors wern't and were borrowing supplies. And that's not even the begining of it.... There's a lot of things that could in all seriousness become a reality... The chances are low sure, but I for one don't see it as too far of a stretch for a few of these horrible things to happen... leaving many with their pants around their ankles...
And as far as the US being in good shape .... Okay... If you say so.. I'm just gonna bite my tongue on that one. And as far as shows like "doomsday preppers"... They're staged just like pawn stars, storage wars etc.... Those chodes give preppers a bad name and the general public a incorrect image. (Not to mention no true prepper is going to show his whole "stash" and "compound" on national tv...)

Quote: Nathan do you hoard food and water, things like that ? Bug out bag ? O ya, On all counts. Though it would take a lot to get me to leave our little homestead. I wrote a long detailed response but it's off topic and I figured nobody really cares anyways... Lol, so I'll keep it short.. Quote: Quote: In all reality, the US is doing about good.
I wish it was doing Extremely Fine. Ya me too.... I'd put us at about P1 now on the verge of being dumped into the cull bucket..
