Judging by the picture provided, there is a clear lack of sharpness in the rear hair area, and in the braid detail. By older (more conservative) ICCS standards, it's an EF-40. The reverse is excellent, but the established pattern for wear on the obverse holds the coin back. It's a great example of how ICCS grades, and for demonstrating how little the reverse factors into the grade.

Judging by the pics supplied there is a weakness in the hair braid as is often seen even up to near unc examples.

The eyelid shows a touch of flatness that should see a grade of at worse 45 or 50,..but never 40.. IMHO...but then again...I'm not a grader....

Nice coin, if someone offered this coin to me at full Trend for VF-40, I would have my wallet out quickly.
