So I have been lurking the forums for a while now and have found a decent amount of errors/variety's CRHing. Just some of them I can be positive on by myself so I was wondering what would be the best way to take pictures of coins. I have tried a scanner and it dosen't work, I also have an iphone 6+ that takes pictures.

to the community! I use my HTC One for coin pictures & it works, although multiple shots are required before getting a really good one. Lighting is key, so take shots at different angles & move the coin a bit. Once you crop the photo to the coin the image is (usually) much larger & phones these days have a lot of Mega-Pixels so the details remain when resized.

Also, if you intend on uploading your images, they must be transferred to a PC or uploaded to an image hosting site like photo bucket or imagr

I am trying out a microscope the has a USB directly to computer...must say, I am having better luck getting the close up pictures than a camera...now if could only figure out how to get complete picture of coin and to actually download it to the forum...practice makes perfect, right? The camera was taking too long to get right shot, right lighting and etc. Hopefully, I will be able to post pictures SOON !
Rest in Peace

There are ways to get close-up detailed photos using the iphone. You may have to do a search to find the way that's right for you, but I know that Wired published stuff about that years ago.

Good luck.

If you have a laptop and are thinking about getting a USB microscope, get one with a light switch. Having the lights on all the time has been nothing but trouble for me.

I am with @ CopperCastle, all the images I have posted here have been taken with my HTC One. I too, take multiple images. Pick the best ones. Then upload them to a cloud (AT&T locker) , then download them to photo bucket and link them here.
Easy peasy

I also have a magnifying app that will take screen shots of the magnified image, but it is quite difficult to keep the magnified image still enough for a clear picture to be taken.
