Probably hard to judge with this many in frame, but curious if this is standard for an XF lot of Mercury dimes.

Will work on better pics if needed, will take time and sort into smaller grouping.

Thanks, hope this is ok type question for this forum.

[w ]...The coins are too small and blurry to give an overall opinion plus the reverse is absolutely needed to grade them. Overall it appears that most look XF however many look to be in the VF range

nice looking set of coins you've got there

smaller groupings would be ideal
large size obverse and reverse photos
Specifically the 1916-D, 1920-D, 1921-D, 1925-D, 1926-S. If you've got either 42/1 over date that would be excellent to see as well.

Thanks for sharing

Looking for a few rules of thumb, if anyone has a lot of experience with Mercuries. Key issues that would keep a dime from being XF or higher... I've noticed a lot of them have the far right digit worn 1/2 off or more, I figured from what I had looked at so far, that would push it down into the G range or VG depending on rest of coin? This grading stuff is tricky!

Its all wear on the high points and what has receded to what degree. Hairline across the brow and down the cheek, how the cap details are above the brow, details of the wings etc... the worse the areas are worn down the more you climb into VG and G ranges.

You've got to spend some time on PCGS photograde, HA archives (so you can see actual coins in the desired grade via high res images) and of course, handle lots and lots of them. There's 1,778 results of VG8 to XF45 of actual graded dimes and the pics are stellar full size. THAT's your best lesson.
