From all of the local banks and CU's I know have coin counting services neither of them sell them. I wonder if its more or a "get to know them more thing" or just policy. I will keep asking maybe one day I will get my hands on a "Dime Bag" or "Nickle Bag" coins people, coins. Don't get carried away now.
Rest in Peace

Off hand I would say most banks only have boxes.

I think a lot of tellers would be afraid to give you bags from the machine in case they are off and stuff. Plus it's enough out of their normal protocol that it's just easier for them to say no than to figure out if it would mess anything up. I heard some people say they afraid it would be short and you would get upset.

I should also say I never asked for bags myself just a certain dollar amount. I've only been refused once since it was Black Friday, the head teller was out, and they were low on change. They just requested I come back Monday.

Are you a member of a bank or CU? Sometimes you have to be a member to get special services.

Many banks and CU's are just plain tired of us. The tellers get a lot of requests for coin, sometimes every day. They deal with and take a lot of crap. They are tired of the "shorted bag whiners", the shorted box whiners, parking-lot searchers, and just plain tired of dealing with all that coin, period.

OTOH, the tellers can be great help. Before I quit my routine this year, I was able to buy bags from two different banks and one CU. I've had a long relationship with them and had to earn their trust. I couldn't ever expect to just walk into a bank as a new member and expect to buy bags, not that it isn't possible. I know for fact that bank policy can be side-stepped if they want to.
