Was engraver Abel Buell ever commissioned to print (legitimate) colonial paper notes along the way?

Well, he printed counterfeit notes, as it appears you know. That was as a young man. His later achievements were in coinage, of course.

Not totally sure.... One of his legitimate enterprises.... http://www.loc.gov/rr/geogmap/buellmap.html .... First American made map of America.....pretty cool!

I too figured between map making and coin dies he might have printed some colonial currency but nothing points to that. Thanks for the feedback folks.
