I have noticed a lot of lower grade Roman silver coins coming from a few different sellers from Russia on ebay.It seems they have purposely struck the coins poorly and then beat the coins up a little more with scratches to make them look old. Here is a example of one and this seller has many othershttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-An...em4d29e8a45d

Looks lead rather silver and the scratches don't help. I wouldn't take a chance with this one.

Meant to say the coins are being sold from Ukraine.

They all look odd to me, being in similar condition. I tend to avoid Eastern European ancients dealers, apparently it's a gold mine (crappy base metal mine?) fakes.

By the time in antiquity when a coin made it that far from Rome it was very worn. It does not surprise me at all that second century coins offered from Ukraine or Russia are very worn. I looked at all the other ancient coins of that seller,
coilsnel
and they are too low grade for my taste, but don't seem like fakes to me.
