We recently purchased a 1725 German Thaler Box and I've been unable to really find a resource to value it. From the little I've found I'm estimating in the $500-$750 range, but there are no real equivalents. The box itself is in excellent condition. Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

I recently came across this coin set in a chain with the following hand written note from my grandfather. It was in a box that I've just opened 20 years after his death. Can somebody tell me more about it? I think it's silver and it's pretty heavy. It's larger than a silver dollar. Does anybody have an idea as to value and or where to sell it?
