Hello.
I collect Italian and I apologize for my bad English .. I have this coin and ask politely if the two letters (WV) in the field are a countestamp. The letters are in relief. Thank you all for your help.

Ciao, Renzo, and welcome to the CCF. Compare your large cent to my avatar. Whereas your letters were scratched or inscribed, the letters and eagle on mine were stamped with prepared punches. Mine has the counterstamp of a gunsmith, Lemuel Pomeroy. It's the same mark that he used on the early firearms he made. On your cent, someone took a sharp object and scratched the surface. While counterstamps are, in effect, coins with PMD or Post-Mint Damage, the ones that can be attributed or offer a good possibility as such do have collector value.

Welcome, mnelao. One additional detail: the marks are in relief because the blade raised a ridge of metal when it cut. These normally bend back down over the cut in circulation.
