I'm new to the forum, but have been reading quite a bit. I have a 1971 S cent and my question is - Should I have it graded? Can't seem to upload pic.

Error is double strike on date and mint mark only.

Depending on the DDO it might be/might not be worth the grading fees. Most feel the coin should be worth $100+ to be graded. So depending on which one you have, you might want to see values for each ID'd die. Here is a site that has the Lincoln Cent varieties listed:

Put in the date/mint mark/variety in the boxes and see if you can find it. Or if you can get some clear images to show us we can help you. Keep in mind the 1968-1972 have a lot of machine damaged examples. Your images will tell us more. Looking forward to your images.

Sorry you have an example of the machine damaged coins. The damage happens while the coin was being struck damaging the coin. Note how the date and mint mark have the same doubling? These are common and not worth slabing.

Or someone will buy it and be mad at you. These are common. Ones to looks for look like this:
1971-S-Cent-Error
1971-S-Cent-Error
1971-S-Cent-Error
1971-S-Cent-Error
1971-S-Cent-Error
1971-S-Cent-Error
This one was on sale on ebay for Over $5,000. It is a proof coin. But shows the hub doubling so well. Keep in mind that proof cents usually run less than 3,000 coins per die. So that makes them a little more rare when they show doubling like this one.
