I just won this on eBay--no other bids; I guess it slipped through the cracks! S-1 or RPD-003. The coin grades a solid EF--I think it will look better when it arrives. It's a nice RPD--here's the date area.

Nice coin! Can't believe no one else bid on it!

Yeah--partially due to the seller's pic showing surface chatter which hides the RPD somewhat. Actual picture on auction is much smaller too.

Nice. Snow has it as a 3-star coin. I'd be interested to know if it has original surfaces. Even without them it would be a keeper.

Great resources! I had just looked up the varieties for 1893, and this coin jumped out immediately. I'm hoping it has some original surfaces for an XF--I'll post better pics when it arrives.

I saw this coin and decided not to bid. If I recall the reverse had strange colors and looked like a problem coin. But, congrats!

Sure--there are some variances in toning--particularly on the reverse. The way I interpret the photo, with the clearly stressed details (and maybe color too)--suggest the coin may look better in-hand. These are risks I take when cherrypicking. But we'll see--I'll post pics when it arrives.

Quote: If I recall the reverse had strange colors and looked like a problem coin. Just an FYI--the coin arrived today and is better than expected--it's a solid EF. The color is much better than the pics on the auction; it's the medium-brown one would see in more-or-less problem-free IHCs from this decade. There are a couple tiny verdigris spots that can be minimized by a distilled water soak. The odd spots on the rev I would attribute to a rough LDS and some darker tones--not corrosion per se.
