My dansco 7070 has the four spots for commemorative halves and I have a Columbus expo (first commem), George washington (first modern), and statue of liberty (liked the majesty of the statue. Based on that very limited info which classic (not modern) would be a good one for my last? I looked at a bunch and I don't seem too attached to any just by design but any really popular (and not super expensive) ones that people wud recommend? Any opinions welcome! Thanks!

a few suggestions:
- Columbus expo half was issued with two years, could get the one you are missing
- 1925 Stone Mountain Memorial Half Dollar
- 1926 Sesquicentennial of America Independence Half Dollar
- commemorative from your home state

Booker t. Washington halves can be gotten for under $20 for uncirculated coins. It's the last of the classic commentatives to go with your first classic, he first silver modern and the first clad.

Bertensgrad I am intrigued with your suggestion. I was unaware that the statue of liberty was the first modern clad. Booker Washington it is then to go along with my theme! Thank u all for your suggestions!

- Columbus 1893 (100 years before I was born, rather than 92)
- Washington Commem (I bought mine for very cheap)
- Vermont Commem (Home state)
- Connecticut Commem (State I'm in while at college)
This is pretty much how I see it. I have the first two, the last two definitely will cost a bit more and aren't my most desired at the moment, but I definitely love both designs. Some day! |

1995-S Civil War clad half in Unc. not proof. Pretty low mintage for modern commem.

You welcome that's how I plan mine. I got my classic ones just deciding if the Washington and the Statue of Liberty is my final choice.

Just a thought the last 90% silver commemorative half is the 1993 bill of rights.
Other than that the Oregon trail halves are just plain gorgeous.

I recently bought the 1923 Monroe Doctrine to join my 1893 Columbian and two 1982 Washington (one proof, one uncirculated). |

Well I wanted two classic and two moderns. And I am not looking to spend too much (more than 100) for a good example of one (vf-au works). I think I will go with the Washington/Carver half dollar as it was the last classic coin. So that way I have the first/last classic and first silver/clad moderns. Thanks for all your opinions everybody!

Yeah.the only super affordable classic ones are the booker and columbian halves

I guess it depends on how you define "super" affordable, but the 1923 Monroe Doctrine, the 1920 Pilgrim and the 1925 Stone mountain are all available for pretty cheap (i.e. <$50 in nice condition). |
