I bought this recently and it is graded as AU50. Reading the past threads here and on other forums it appears the general consensus is ICG is the worse off the four TPGs and they tend to over grade. This one's grade seems ok to me and I got it at reasonable price ($70). Too bad they don't have online photos of the coins like PCGS/NGC. What do you think ?

I don't think it was over graded at all. In fact, I agree with their assessment.

I don't think that I ICG consistently over grades coins. I buy ICC coins every chance I get. Fortunately people don't consider ICC on par with NGC or PCGS, so I get some really beautiful coins for little above raw price, crack them and put them in my albums

Have no problem buying a coin in an ICG holder, and have a few myself. As the saying goes, "Buy the coin..." BUT, if I plan to resell it, there is a bit of a stigma attached to ICG, whether well founded or not, and I better be sure I'm happy with the price I pay for it.

I don't know the issue, but based on the reverse I could see AU50 pretty easily. ICG is fine with US Classics, not good with Moderns, and I dunno about World. This one's encouraging.

ICG grades many modern coins as PR-70 and MS-70 which tends to undermine their overall credibility. However, they seem pretty solid for older US coins and I think they are competent for authentication. Some very nice coins are in ICG holders and sometimes you can find a bargain.
