Not a series I know too well, but I would guess MS-66.

After spending a bit of time on it. I'm going with MS-65, but a pretty good chance at 66.
There are really no visible flaws that I see.
That's a beautiful coin Mike! Is it for a type set or what?

Very nice coin, the fields on both sides appear to be nearly perfect but from the photos is seems that the lower half of the fasces have some scrapes. Based on this I would go with a MS63.

The eye appeal is cetainly very nice. I have quite a few but have not wanted to spend the money to grade them professionally for fear they would come back lower than I thought. My guess would be above MS 65 as well. Do you think the coin would be graded differently by different agencies?

Not a very good strike, but I don't know if that is typical for this issue. As for the grade, you advertized it as an MS-66, so it isn't quite fair. All I can say is, I agree with the grade.

Luster is great. Love nicks on the obverse and reverse rims. Well used die on the reverse.
62 at best. 63 because it is in an NGC holder.

Wonderfully clean fields. I think that bumped it up to a 66. PG

Oops! Some of you already know the grade from my previous posts...NGC had it at 66.

Quote: That's a beautiful country Mike! Is it for a type set or what? Thanks Duncan! I'm not doing a formal type set, but you could say it's similar to it. I'm basically trying to acquire a bunch of nice certified examples of US coins. Sort of like a type set, but with a bunch of different examples of each individual type. There isn't much of a goal though, I'm pretty much just seeking out attractive pieces. Just working on my connoisseurship!

I've seen a lot of these and would say MS65, but a few more angles on the back would have helped, hard to see details in lower part of pole. Is it common to get these graded? My Step father thought I should get a few from my collection graded, but not sure it is worth it unless going for a graded set?
