1982 Penny - Blurred Letters

Yet another penny with a question. This penny is quite legible until under magnification, when both obverse and reverse are blurred.

There appears to be some doubling (MD?) and some Die Deterioration, but on both obv and rev, so maybe PMD as well? Maybe acid?

The die is in the VLDS heavy wear die state at that time. It is very tired.

I prefer the earlier die states as they always smile for the camera:

Note how the edges of the fields and the devices are so crisp? In later die states they are not as sharp because of die wear.

Note the outside edge of the devices on the area between the device and the rim. The outside edge of the devices start out as strong. Then in MDS they start to round and get worse as the die ages. Knowing what to look for, helps us keep the better coins.
