Those boxes of 250 dollar coins sold at the mint for $275.95 -- are they wrapped in the same type of wrapper as the individual rolls sold at $32.95? Or are they just plastic wrappers common at the bank?

I thought they were sold in bags. Now you have me investigating.

USmint says it's rolls. What type of wrapper isn't specified.

I mean, has anyone here purchased them before? The price seems to be at a deep discount compared to the individual rolls sold, if the wrappers are the same.

I'm fairly sure the wrappers are not the same. The roll sets will say US Mint on them the rolls in the boxes won't.

I believe the wrappers in the boxes are the same as the individual rolls. They're all circulation quality coins, so I'm not sure why they would use a different wrapper for single rolls vs boxed rolls.

I called them. The person who picked up didn't know what I was asking, so I asked her to describe the wrappers of the $250 boxes. She says that the rolls say US Mint on them, have black as the only colour, and have solid black at the end of the rolls. In that case I say 95% chance the roll wrappers are the same.

I've got a $250 box of FDRs right here (I use Prez dollars for parking meters and vending machines at my University). The cardboard box itself has Franklin Roosevelt's name printed on it. Inside are 10 rolls of 25 each with the white USmint wrappers and printed on them is his name and the D mintmark.

I'll upload pics if you want.

Did you get them from the bank or something, or did you order it from the mint and searched through the rolls for high grades/varieties? I would personally keep the coins sealed instead of spending them.

I ordered the 10 roll box direct form the Mint. Like I said, the box itself is printed with the name of the president and the mintmark. The roll wrappers are also imprinted with the US mint name, the denomination, the name of the president, and the MM.

Well I ordered two boxes this morning. I like how the mintages have gone down significantly. I'm just wondering, do the recently issued Presidential dollars still get found in circulation (those with a mintage under 10 million)?
