or maybe the mint is getting lazy and they are reusing old designs.

I guess there's only so much that can be done with birds, trees, water, and mountains. That's why I like whenever a proposed design is daring enough to employ some other design element.

I am just not a fan of changing designs and this is one of the reasons why. If you want a repeating design, then just make one.
Just my twenty five cents.

Even the bird in the background is in a similar location. C'mon Delaware!

Great eye, but its a shame they're so similar. I'll probably get confused here and there.

Well.... There are 2 coin designs that both feature birds of the region. I mean the two designs both feature birds so I guess they are similar. Not the same species but they both have wings! Yeah the mint must be getting lazy.... I'll bet both coins have a similar obverse too.... Probably due to laziness as well.
Or maybe it could be a depiction of 2 of our national parks featuring birds that struggled in that region until those parks were established.... Probably not though. Probably just laziness at the mint

Hmm...possibly on to something fromms, but just for fun, I'm still going with laziness. That's just me being lazy though. It's contagious! I can't stop!

Perhaps it's because I lived in Delaware for a while, but I like it. In fact I like all the designs for 2015 except the final issue, Saratoga. Remember there were many design candidates and this was chosen out of a group. I suppose similarities are unavoidable when you feature a wading bird standing in water. In the below link you can see all the design candidates. http://news.coinupdate.com/ccac-rev...esigns-3154/We have several "quadruped-in-a-field-with-a-mountain-backdrop" designs (and likely more to come) so I'm not terribly concerned about mixing up Bombay Hook and Everglades.

Quote: We have several "quadruped-in-a-field-with-a-mountain-backdrop" designs (and likely more to come) Very valid point. Personally I think both of these fowl designs are for the birds. Seriously though, I think at least a mirror image of the newer one would have been a better way to go just for a bit more variety. These are very different when someone takes the time to look at them, but few people outside coin collectors will.
