it's probably hard but how can u tell the difference between clash or die scratch?
A clash will show the outside edges of the devices. Slightly raised, but not much.

Note how it follows the outside design?
A die scratch is random. They are caused when the die is abraided to remove those clash lines created by the opposite die.

The die scratches on the fields eventually flatten in the open areas. But next to/inside the devices they may remain longer. So when searching for die markers to match one from a site, the scratches may have been flattened with age or even covered with new ones. But if you look next to the devices/inside the devices, you may still see parts of the fading die scratches.

Note the die scratch from the tail of the 9 to the bust. Note how much stronger it is in that area whereas the die scratches are flattening in the open field area below the 60 and east of the mint mark. Note inside the 0 in the date. See how much stronger they are there as compared to the open field areas above and below the date.
Die scratches are left over marks from a rough surface to remove the indented die clash marks. They are random in direction. They do not correspond to the design of the die. A strong clash is a keeper. But most die scratches are of no use except for on variety dies and they are like fingerprints used to identify die states. Why are they similar? Because die go through the same events over and over. Then removed the same ways from all dies when this happens. While fingerprints are alike, but totally different, the same is true with die scratches. You just have to see how they are different enough to identify a matching die that is attributed. When I search for a match, I try to find at least 2-3 that are same, but in different areas of the die. That way I know it is a match. But if they are not there, it doesn't disqualify a die match. The coin maybe in an earlier/later die state. Keep in mind also that the opposite die may have been replaced, so the markers wouldn't be the same on that die that was on an earlier die marriage.
