i was paid on dec 19 shipped dec 19 night, on dec 28 ebay buyer opened a case because they havent received item yet! like common 2 weekends in there plus xmas and boxing daygotta give the mail some time ,especially when shipping is free
this was the message from buyer to me in the case log
Quote:
Hi! Just checking because I haven t receive my item and the delay was Dec.25... I know it s the Holiday Season but I just want to make sure there hasn t been a mistake done somewhere... Please understand I m just inquiring. Have a nice Holiday Season!

i see they mean no harm but a simple message to me would have been fine ,didnt need to open a case.

I think there may have a misunderstanding. You see, the buyer may not have necessarily meant to open a case. What happens is, after the last date of delivery passes, if a message is sent to the seller after selecting the option "I haven't received my item yet" ebay will automatically open a case without asking the buyer first. Seeing as to the polite tone of the message, I don't think the buyer meant to open a case.

I agree, I've had buyers inadvertedly open a case after ebay changed the way things were done early this year. By ebays own rules they can't open one till after they have contacted you first. But; hey, it's ebay.

I had someone do this to me at Christmas once. Never responded to any of my replies and just sat back and let Paypal force the refund.

ebay calculates the estimated shipping times with no allowance for holiday season volume. and some buyers use that as a real-world guaranteed delivery date.

"opening a case" has been replaced with "make a request". the buyer was just "requesting" some reassurance (as stated in their note). they can't do this until the estimated arrival date has come and gone. I would suggest you increase your handling time (adds to the estimated delivery date) as much as you can without throwing yourself into a higher fee schedule, or get used to more "requests" - I think buyers expect every seller to provide service like Amazon (and maybe don't realize that some of us are 1 man/small family operations) and the new request feature is going to be used a lot more in the future.
